Email List of Dentists and Dental Clinics in Florida

Florida is one of the largest states in the country. In addition to this, Florida is the third-largest populous state. Being the largest state and a populous state, the healthcare infrastructure should be solid.

Unfortunately, that’s not the case. When it comes to dental care, Florida has the lowest ranking in terms of dental care access. According to the report released by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRAS), 65 out of 67 counties are designated as full or part dental health shortage areas.

If we consider the population-to-dentist ratio, the population of Florida is around 7 million, and for every 5,000, there is one dentist. This is a very low population-to-dentist ratio. Not only this. If we consider the ratio in the nation, Florida ranks poor in this as well. Nationally, for every 100,000 population, there are 60.4 dentists. On the other hand, Florida has 51.8 dentists. Florida also has less number of dental clinics because of poor dental care infrastructure.

The counties that are performing very poorly in terms of the dentist-to-population ratio are Union County, Hamilton County, Glades County, DeSoto County, Gilchrist County, Wakulla County, Dixie County, and Taylor County.

Seeing this, the dental therapy legislation has been passed by two government representatives to improve dental care infrastructure. The proposed legislation says that licensing would be authorized for dental therapists or dentists to work in Florida. Apart from the government representatives, the legislation was also championed by several organizations, including the Florida Dental Hygienist’s Association and over 200 other organizations.
